Frequently Asked Questions
Are personality tests scientifically valid?
The Big Five (OCEAN) model is the most scientifically validated personality framework. MBTI is widely used but less empirically grounded. The Dark Triad, narcissism, and attachment style measures all have strong empirical support. Our tests are designed for self-insight and draw on validated frameworks — they are screening tools, not clinical assessments.
Can personality change over time?
Yes. Research shows personality traits shift gradually across a lifetime — people tend to become more conscientious and agreeable with age. Significant life events, therapy, and deliberate practice can also meaningfully shift trait expression. Attachment style, for instance, can shift toward security with supportive relationship experiences.
What is the Dark Triad?
The Dark Triad refers to three overlapping personality traits: Narcissism (grandiosity and need for admiration), Machiavellianism (strategic manipulation and cynicism), and Psychopathy (callousness and impulsivity). These traits exist on a spectrum in the general population. Measuring them provides insight into interpersonal style and potential blind spots.
